lukas turns one!

Last weekend we had a great time celebrating Lukas’ first birthday! The kids had a great time playing games, and Lukas had a great time eating cake.

Valentine’s Day Photobooth Props!

How cute are these Valentine’s Day photobooth props from paper&CAKE?! They gave me a set and I did a minishoot with some girls. We had a lot of fun. The best part about this set is that they’re great for all ages!

Whew, krista lucas photography had a fantastic year! These sessions were from November and December. I was blessed with some phenomenal and adorable clients (and friends) who hired me to capture some of their moments this year. I am so excited to see what 2011 has in store!! 🙂

As a gift to their mother, my friend Rachel and her two sisters bought a photo session with all the grandkids! It was definitely not Sadie’s first choice of activities, but with crackers she would sit and look at the camera! 🙂 It was a lot of fun for me, since these kids are so cute!!!

When we were making our plans for Christmas this year, we decided to go visit my family for several days during the week after Christmas. Only about a week or two before our trip, I found out that baby Scarlett (whose parents’ maternity photos I shot in September, and whose mother I have known since she was about 7 years old) had been diagnosed with a congenital glioblastoma multiforme, an egg-sized tumor in her brain. I immediately offered to shoot some family photos for them while we were in town, and all worked out so I could do so.  As a photographer, I know that I am doing something that people will treasure forever, but in this case I felt that about a million times more. Even though this was a gift to them, the gift they gave me of letting me into their story for just a little while is priceless and will leave me forever changed. Scarlett goes in for surgery to hopefully remove the tumor on January 5th – I plan to wear red that day and pray for her and her family with all my heart. Read more about their story here.

patty and scott {los angeles maternity}

This session was a blast! I have known Patty since college, and her husband Scott is so nice and funny. The two of them took some great photos! They live in Colorado, but were in town visiting family for Christmas and we scheduled this session for Christmas eve morning. The weather was perfect, and I love shooting at Occidental – it offers so many great spots! I can’t wait to see how tall their baby boy is when he arrives this spring! 🙂

This is my favorite shot of Patty from the day…I love the arches and columns…and she looks so happy!

And my favorite of the two (well, three!) of them – love the backlight! Scott suggested this spot, and I’m so glad he did!
